Got home the other night and noticed that my neighbor had brush hogged the back portion of my property while I was work. Tonight, I took the 955 down there to take a look at how much he did and how it looked. Just about the time I got to the corner of my property, behind the pond and below the dam, the tractor sputtered and died. Crap... I ran it out of fuel. Of course this happened at the point on my property furthest away from the barn.

So, I began the walk of shame back to the barn to get a jug of fuel. I get to the barn and..... crap, I used the last of my diesel the other night to clean some parts. So, I load the dog and the fuel jug in the truck and head into town to get more fuel. Loaded up the fuel jug, a flashlight and my trusty 17mm wrench in the trailer and hitch up to the 322 to haul it down to the 955.

Filled the tank, cracked an injector and cranked it up. Once I got fuel from the injector line, I tightened it down and fire her. Drove her back to the barn and then had to walk back down behind the pond to retrieve the 322. Oh well..... I guess it's about time to fix the fuel gauge on the 955.

About three weeks ago one of my guys ran the 110 out of fuel, he was so embarrassed I didn't have to say anything. I let him sweat it out to see what he would do. For some reason it never occurred to me to tell him it was an auto bleed system.:D

It's more embarassing to put fuel in the tractor and then forget to put the cap on. Then it rains A WHOLE LOT and the next time you go out you realize that the entire tank needs to be drained. :ashamed:

Yep, I've had a few, well maybe more than a few days like that. They build character though, or maybe it's more of a TEST of character.

I ran my 314 out of gas one day mowing the lawn.....loaded up the gas can and made the 15 minute trip to town. To my surprise, the 314 was missing when I got back. After a couple of minutes of being completely puzzled, I spotted the top of the seat just sticking up out of the ravine at the edge of my property. The slight grade of the lawn was just enough for it to slowly creep its way into hiding. I know...it does have a parking brake....I just never use it because when it is not running, it is setting on the level garage floor.

No damage done...other than the withdrawal I had to make out of the embarrassment bank as I was pulling it up out of the ravine with the truck.

I've been waiting for the very same scenario to play out for me. My 1510 has a sight gauge on the side of the tank. You have to stop the tractor, dismount, and pop the hood to see it. The trick is remembering to actually do this procedure at various points of the day. :confused2: So far, I've been lucky!
