A friend (rip) years ago was funny in a twisted way. In grade school some guy was always trying to bum a cigarette off my friend and he got tired of saying he didn't smoke. So at home he got a pack with a few cigarettes from his dad. One he dumped tobacco out and put a firecracker in it with a little tobacco at the top. Firecrackers were powerful back then. Next day guy asked for a smoke so friend said sure, and guy heads off to the bathroom. Class starts and teacher is talking when all at once..."WHAM!"...
The guy comes staggering into the class and his lip was pulled back!
When I was a kid in the olden days, firecrackers had many unintended uses. We put them everywhere. Lots of things got blown up and lots of mailboxes never closed right again.
The only surprise is that more damage to kids didn't happen. Most of us were wary of the high risk items and were more careful.

Cherry bombs and M80s had waterproof fuses and guys blew up lots of toilets in school.

Unfortunately I knew a lot of guys that blew up toilets without cherry bombs or M80's... lol

this conversation is going down the crapper...
my father lost part of his hearing as a young man throwing a cherry bomb or whatever was the next size up, and it went off in his hand while throwing it.
I think it messed up his hand too.
later on I became emcee of family fireworks.
for a while they were so safe and sane they were kinda like modified road flares.
Seems like anything goes now.
I've got neighbors shooting off mortars, things that go thwump...
I'm just fine with that unless the weather has been dry.
this country doesn't need any more unnecessary fires.
No sense in leaving a beautiful corpse.
I think about that every time I get a new crown or bridge in my mouth.
taking it with you doesn't offer much benefit...
