The Good Dealership

I just got back from a trip into 'the big smoke', a 4 hour round trip. As I do, when in the area, I stopped by my Dealership... this time I did pick up some grease canisters and a replacement PTO shaft, but other times I will just stop in for a yarn & a cup of coffee. When I did stop by today I was greeted by name by several people around the yard; mechanics, the Service desk bloke... practically everyone who saw me.

They see me about 3 times a year and I'm not a "big rig" client. Yet I'm treated like an old hand & Mate with all the time in the day for me.

Here on TBN I hear/read a fair bit about disinterested(?) or poor experiences regarding sales and service, and I simply haven't found that to be the case. Yet we often advise new tractor buyers to find the dealership in their area with the best reputation.

What are your good experiences? 'Shout outs' are fine and 'colour' doesn't matter.

Had bent the top link on mine, raised 3pt too high with ropes folded pulling out of garage. Dealer said there brand was 100+ but if I didn't mind they would order me an aftermarket for under 20. Get home and get a call from them that they won't order me the cheap one but I will get an oem one under warranty because the manual didn't say not to be a dummy. Dummy wasn't there word but, it fit at the time

When I first had my tractor delivered it arrived with a standard bucket and the slasher. I had to wait for the other implements to be shipped over from the mainland (all the way from Queensland for some of them).

Short story is that the bloke who sold me the rig delivered all of those implements personally. When he left, I noticed a forgotten ballast box sitting off to the side. I tried it on for size and liked it. The next day I emailed him to let him know that he'd left the ballast box (so he wouldn't wonder where it had got to) and that I liked it and would pay for it.

A few hours later a return email came back saying 'thanks for letting us know' and that the boss says that it's "complimentary". :thumbsup:

I get the same treatment at our JD dealership, they always say they'll never retire on my purchases, shoot the bull like we're the best of friends, i don't feel bad about dropping the dollars when needed.

The biggest issue is several Kubota and New Holland have come and gone... hard to build a relationship when there is no one to relate.

My brother has a good relationship with his dealer... got off to a rocky start... developed into a good one... he can call and one of the guys lives nearby and will deliver on way home if he needs ASAP... which is excellent service.

For my part... the best Dealership Experience has been with Caterpillar... they make pennies from me on the couple of hundred dollars of parts I would buy each year... yet I always got VIP treatment... asked if I was down on a job... offered to do some machine work while I waited just to get me running... and would let me go to their library to research my old D3

My sales guy greets me by name and I bought the tractor 16 years ago. Unfortunately for me, he transferred to another dealership, so I won't see him at the dealership where I bought the tractor. If I need to buy anything which would earn him a commission, I would drive to his dealership. Some company at this point but his dealership is out of the way if I have to leave work to get to the dealer.

I wish I could buy cars/trucks from him. Night and day difference between the treatment at the tractor dealer compared to the auto dealer. :shocked:
