The way I have seen it. Those batteries are so fitted to the vehicles to lower the center of gravity and allow maximum capacity. Plus heating and cooling lines. I cannot imagine any way to exchange them easily.

I also imagine that the manufactureres are looking forward to battery replacement revenue in the future. An exchange program would mess that up.

One article mentioned an electric Semi is currently $500,000 but they expect in time diesel or electric semis will cost the same. There are a lot of IF's in the EV world today.

It may take battery technology as advanced over lithium ion battery as LI was over LA (lead acid).

What ever governments reward is what they get more of where it be good or bad.

With the number of EV makers reported perhaps China has already crossed the tipping point of becoming the world supplier of EV's when we were not looking. If they share their patents with Tesla then they will have access to the ones Tesla holds plus Chinese are being trained trained to build Tesla's which should be good for the other EV builders in China.

Yes I agree on the looks of the Semi.

It has 4 motors I read so how does the power get applied to the wheels. Like is there a gear box, etc?

That is my understanding, that is the price. However, Tesla sometimes words the contract so you are committed to the price but they are not. They did just that on the original Roadster, raised the price on people who had $40k deposits. When the $7500 Federal Tax Credit was enacted Tesla promptly raised the price $7500 stating, "Its the same as when you ordered."

The production version is expected to be under $200k, depending on battery configuration.

The Founder's Series is how Tesla designates preproduction orders.
