Tax Tax Tax

Vehicle costs 20 some bucks/yr for new tags/sticker....that's it. Low property taxes, no income taxes, (last time they thought about implementing one, the State capitol was literally stormed) and we have a billion dollar surplus in the State rainy day fund.

I don't understand WHY ya'll folks in the Northeast and out west put up with the thousands and thousands of bucks you pay in taxes....I don't see that life is any better there, no gold plated roads, etc.....what is it you're getting for being fleeced by your State and local govts ???

Well said. Btw, nothing...to answer your question. People don't get involved and say "enough is enough" for one thing around my local area....let alone the ops state! Wow!
My neighbor wants to move to Tennessee where his family is from for very reasons you listed.

Unfortunately, the looters are starting to outnumber those they are stealing from. Even if those people fed up with it said 'enough is enough' the looters would still vote into power people to keep the gravy train going.

YEP, a big, dangerous slide we are on.

I live in South Carolina. We are invaded by tax advoiders by the thousand every day from those high tax states when they retire and realize the difference in taxes plus much less snow. I hear it all the time. Now our taxes are much lower but we do not have trash pickup, lighted country roads with walks and such frills which suits us fine. Then some dummy moves here and puts up sign we need sidewalks on major highway...please move back to high tax states. Understand I have no problem with people moving to avoid high taxes or snow. Have gained some great neighbors and friends who did just that.

Lighted road ways, paved streets, sidewalks, garbage /trash pick up, city police /fire depts.,city employees, pensions, etc, etc, is why the taxes are so high in those areas.
We have some roads that aren't paved, most that are paved with just a layer of tar with gravel on top Volunteer FD, no local police, no big pensions for city employees
In short.. things /services cost money, and someone has to pay.
Compared to other places. I'm fine with where I live and the taxes I currently pay

Around here, a LOT of the local property taxes are due to snow removal and road repairs due to damage over the winter.

I live outside the city limits, but just a couple of miles away we have all of those things without paying ridiculously high taxes.

The only "after purchase taxes" here in Ea WA are the annual fees to license the vehicles. $60 for my 2005 F-150 and $55 for my 2006 Jeep. I live WELL outside the Spokane city limits - so there are no annual "smog fees" on my vehicles.

AND YOU KNOW what else - there is no "sugar fees" on our soda's here either. Politicians may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but they have good hearing - "get a rope".

Cities here have all that. We live in the county, but every road is paved with asphalt. No street lights in county, but enough private folks pay for those stupid yard lights that a lot of the place (too much in my opinion) is lit up. Garbage pickup weekly, they furnish the cart, $16/mo. County sheriff is pretty responsive. Volunteer fire departments with one or two county paid guys in each station. Good EMS service. Good schools, many newly built in the last few years. Local State University.

I have no doubt they'd find ways to spend money IF they had it, but honestly, I don't see us wanting for anything here.

The problem is that all you tax lovers are driving out your populations to better states and then you want free phones, free food assistance , free child support, free health care, free garbage, free gas, free chocolate, free car washes and free toner cartridges for your printers. Plus instructions on how to screw in a light bulb in 21 languages.

They should not allow carpet baggers to vote. It's as simple as that.

cities here have that as well. Along with higher taxes than I pay in the county.
I'll stay in the county. they can pay for all those ''free'' things they want.
