Stupid human tricks April edition

No person was hurt in the performance of the following stunts:
I was mowing along today with everything working fine, which is just short of a miracle at times with my tractor. I turned around at one point and realized I had just run over one of my newly planted blue spruce trees. Okay, I should have left the marker flag near it, but it was only a foot tall and is easily replaced.
I shrugged that off and later was again going alone just fine when I heard a strange thwupp. I turned around to see my billfold coming out the mower chute in more pieces than I had thought possible. It slipped out of my pocket and my mower dutifully turned it into confetti. As it turned out I could salvage my insurance card, my SSN card and some junk I should have thrown away anyway. I'd love to be able to say something along the lines of "That took skill!" But there's a reason my billfold stays in the house when I'm working outside. The last one made a trip thru my DeWalt planer and into the dust collector! Course that was when I was young and stupid...a couple of years ago.

That reminds me of the time I was plowing a field for my brother-in-law. I have a habit of "patting" my billfold on a semi-regular basis. I think this was because of having my pocket picked once. Anyway, I made the turn at the end of the row, semi-consciously "patted" for my billfold, and it wasn't there! Looked back at the 40 acres or so that I'd just turned over, and thought that it was hopeless....

But no, hopeless or not, I thought I would look back. Stopped the tractor, and proceeded back over the last few rows. Sure enough, there was the billfold! Somehow it had landed between rows. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think Boondox has the right idea. In fact, when I'm working around the house or on the tractor, I usually don't have anything in my pockets.

I suppose my wise-acre comment could be construed as negativity, Jag, but I certainly didn't mean it that way. It was an (apparently futile) attempt to poke fun at the length of the wish list that sprouted as soon as I bought my own tractor. I assumed everybody had a similar list.

When I was in high school, I once came across a scene at the local public swimming pool where I saw that one of my friend's car had made its way from the parking lot, down the slope, through the fence and right to the edge of the pool itself. When I approached the crowd gathered around the car, I heard my own wise-ass mouth making a comment about his unique parking spot. When I saw the look on folks faces in response to the wise crack, I vowed from then on to think twice before engaging my mouth. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

GlueGuy, I did the same thing in a hayfield about 3 years ago; took me about an hour and a half before I found it, and I was just about ready to give up./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

How right you are Bird! Harv's been upbeat right along! He also has been forthright about a long wish list for his tractor, which I am sure everyone does develope after getting there first tractor!!

No apologies necessary. You're right about the pocketbook. After nibbling at it for 2 years the tractor and mower decided to take the whole thing!

I can relate to loosing the wallet. About six years ago I lost my wallet and could not find it anywhere after golfing. I walked the course for two hours, looked everywhere. Well I just figured someone stole it. Last year I got new golf clubs and was cleaning out my old bag and in the bottom of the bag where my clubs go there was my wallet!!! All the money, credit cards, everything was there.
