I can't think of what it might be called ... but I'd like a steel loop, or hoop, that I can add to the end of my 5/16" (G70) tow chain so when I want to pull from the trailer ball on my tractor, I can just toss the hoop over the ball & go.

Its inside diameter would need to be at least a little more than 2" in order to fit over the ball. And it should be grade 70 (or greater?!) to match the chain's strength.

Thanks!

This is what I have on my tractor.

Bailey's - 3/8" Chain Choker System - 3/8" Grab Link

I'll measure the inside of the hoop to see if your 2" ball will fit. I have seen other chain sling loops but without the grab feature on this loop.

I'll get you the measurement later this week.

I generally just make a loop in the end of the chain and put a shackle in to hold it. A bent (ovalled) ring won't come off over the ball, you'd have to either cut it off or remove the ball. There ARE purpose made lifting rings that would work, but they're pricey.

I make a loop in the end of the chain and put a grade 8 bolt thru to keep the loop. This will work really well for 5/16" chain and smaller. You can even vary the size of the loop if you wish. The loops offer a good choker for tugging, dragging and pulling.

I got it, I think this will do it for you.

Grade 40 Clevis Link w/ 4,400 lb. WLL - 5/16 in. | AW Direct

I've got one on a couple of chains, 3/8" and 5/16" also great for skidding a log as they cinch up tight like a choker.

I'll measure the 5/16" one to see if it will drop on a 2 inch ball.

They call the 5/16" one G40 4400 WLL. but that's only 300 pounds less than G70 5/16 chain.
The 3/8" one will easily fit 5/16" chain and that one has a 6600 WLL and has a bigger throat.

You can see it in action here, this is the 5/16" version.

The clevis link slips over a 2" ball easily, but not over a 2-5/16 ball.

The 3/8 and 5/16 are the same size, only thing different is the 3/8 is thicker, I thought it had a bigger opening but it doesn't.
I keep the clevis link chain on the tractor at all times with a grab hook on the other end. you can see a latching grab hook in the pic, also from aw direct.

The clevis link is perfect for tractor pulling tasks.
