Doubt Rotella is a "full" synthetic. Think it's very likely a hydrotreated oil, meaning they use hydrotreating to remove unsats and aromatics rather than solvent extraction. It does produce a very good oil, but is not a full synthetic.

I converted our old 240D Benz to synthetic when it had over 200k on it. No problems. Also converted a Gravely that was using some oil to synthetic (both Mobil 1). After the 2nd oil change on the Gravely it actually quit using oil.

Your mileage may vary, standard internet abbreviation. At the risk of taking more flack, if you're speaking to a specific person or persons in a thread, I suggest either quoting what they said by hitting the reply w/quote button or just using their username for clarity.

If you're thanking me- great, I appreciate that. If someone else, that's fine too, since there are contributors here like sixdogs that offer a lot of good tips, and just about everyone knows more about Kubotas than I do. I'll stick with this thread for now, but if things continue to sidetrack I'll be gone....

In general a machine is better off with topped off fluids than low fluids, even if they aren't an exact match.

Yes, my reply was directed to you.

How do I check to see if coolant needs to be changed?

Also, best way to start and let the b7800 warm up? How many seconds do I hold the key in the
first position before engaging the starter on these cold days? I tried between 12-20 seconds and
I found the engine cranked with white smoke coming out. Had to engaged the started 2-3 times before
it turned over.

Once started how long do you let the engine idle before operation and at what speed?

Here is a site that has your owners manual, the 2nd from the top. Based on your questions, I suggest you print it and read it. Your questions are all answered starting at page 18

I need to clean the engine and engine compartment-very dirty. Any advise on what to look
out for when washing/any possible problems?

Do all 3 panels simply pull off?

No problem. The manual should explain things in sufficient detail so that you properly maintain your investment. Good luck.

Get a hydrometer:Amazon.com: coolant hydrometer

It can test the content as to proper mixture. The # of years in the system determines when to drain/replace with new, due to overall breakdown. Usually 2 years and change out.

White smoke is generally not a good sign at start up.
