Great pictures. He looks like he has the potential to be a really nice buck in a few years.
We rarely see deer during the day here. If it wasn't for the game camera, we wouldn't know what was here.
The wet area is from Deer Cane Black Magic. It's a kind of jello type stuff that you spread on the ground, and the deer love it!!! This spot was totally flat when I first put it out about 5 years ago. Now it's a foot deep and about 8 feet across. Water adds to the appeal, but they lick the soil when it's dry and they come every night, all year. The instructions say to put it out every 3 months, but we do it a little more often. Walmart has it for $7 right now, but the price goes up to as much as $14 sometimes.
My wife shot the buck in the middle last week. We got 87 pounds of hamburger off of him from the butcher. She is very exited about that, and she keeps telling me that I need to get one too!!!
Very nice mule deer!!!! I've hunted Blacktail in California, Mule Deer in most of the Rocky Mountain states and Whitetail here in Texas. Mule Deer are by far my favorite deer to hunt. Probably my favorite animal of all to hunt!!! Love getting up high on a mountain and glassing for them, then figuring out how to get closer and finally, the sneaking up on one for the shot!!! Here is my best one, which was from Broadus Montana. He's 28 inches wide.
I never seen apples that small. Comparing them to the deer, they look like they are the same size as their eye. Is that what they deer are eating? Any idea of what kind of apple that is?
