Snow bucket for BX2230

I have been thinking about having a snow bucket built for my BX2230 with LA211 FEL. Currently it just has a little 48" bucket, but I have been thinking about getting a 60" or so. Has anyone else had a snow bucket made for their little tractors? Any input on this?

The BX2230 doesn't get used alot for snow, 95% of the time we use the L3600GST with 7' snow bucket and 7' 3pt blower. But there are times that we need the little BX and with the 4' bucket it just seems to take forever.

Check w/your dealer,you never know what might be laying around.
Do you have good welding shop near by,visit them w/plans get a rough cost.

Bigger bucket might mean more rear weight and chains.

Going with a 60 inch bucket on a BX for fluffy snow is fine, but once it's semi wet or heavy snow, the BX is useless since it cannot push once snow piles up. The BX has the power, but not the weight. I should know since I kinda built a wooden one 6 ft and it works but once you get heavy stuff.. its alot of pushing aside to get through. I mounted a truck plow and it works whole lot better on th BX since its angled to push snow aside while going forward.

Check with bxpanded.com. He has a bucket doubler for the 50/60 series BX's. It increases the volume but not the width. It fits over your existing bucket.

Thanks for the replys! I am more interested in getting a wider bucket for snow than just increasing the capacity of the current one. That way after making a pass I have a wider trail than the width of the tractor, since right now after making a pass the snow falls into the trail and I then run it over packing it down, which annoys me ALOT!!

As for weight of the tractor, both front and rear tires are loaded also have 75lb weights in each rear tire. With the loader mounted and me on the tractor the BX weighs in right around 2300-2400 lbs. Right now the little BX very easily handles the 4' bucket, so I don't think that a 60" bucket should be too bad.
