Just posting because I want to bait the tie down police...

full disclosure, I was sitting still when I took the picture and I was only going a half mile on the hwy and I was following the wife with the loader, if they didn't fall off in the field they definitely weren't falling off on the road..

What keeps the ones on the beavertail from rolling off?

That is how Uhaul has their trailers setup. I suspect that its due to loads under 10k only needing 2 tie downs, but I agree that it seems foolish.

Seems like a liability to me. As well as giving a person that doesn't know the rules a false sense of security and bad information. Technically in the rule book those two tie downs need to be front and back, not side by side. I`m thinking the person would get a shock and a ticket for improperly secured load if they were in a wreck :2cents:

Because the tire webbing is secured front and back of the tire, it passes. Yes, at least one more in the rear is better, especially for walking of the rear, but its not required. The last time I used one, the instructions said to place in park and engage parking brake fully.. Pretty sure most of these have a front 'stop' as well.

Must be good enough.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do you think a vehicle towed on a tow-dolly should be tied down?

How is that different then a car trailer?

Huge difference. Dolly converts the car into a towable piece of equipment where the rear wheels of the vehicle are part of the trailer system. Same as a stiff hitch. No different then latching onto your trailer and hauling it down the road.

On a trailer, the vehicle turns into hauled equipment where proper securing techniques need to be met in order for the vehicle to stay attached to the trailer in case of an emergency situation or accident. In this case, the back end of the vehicle is Unsecured

I towed my Ranger to the garage on a UHaul trailer last year. While it did fit as their specs said, the pickup stuck out over the back.
Along with their wheel tie downs I also took two good ratchet straps and ran them from the rear axle of the truck all of the way to the front of the trailer. Then I even followed the 45MPH speed limit posted on the fender.

If both front tires are held securely in place and the steering is locked how is the backend going to move around?
