After passing up my 50 hour service by about 5 hours, I finally called the dealership to come pick up my tractor and complete it and do it for me as well as do some warranty work. I was losing RPM's quite severely while doing nothing. Apparantly, I had a bad fuel pump. I dont have all the time I need to do the service myself, plus I am just not that mechanically inclined and would rather have someone who knows what they are doing do it for me. Anyone have an idea of what most dealers charge for their 50 hour service. My priced seemed to be very fair ($210, including taxes and all parts, plus a nice wash /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) but I was just curious.

Thanks, I guess my price was more than reasonable then. Red Rocker, was that negotiated in the price of your purchase I assume?

They threw it in, I'm not much of a wheeler dealer.

The only thing that got "thrown" into my deal was my hat. Like you, I don't try to wheel and deal. That being said, I think my price was close to bargain basement anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

After far too long in the repair field I think this is how to get the best deal: /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

1) Call every shop in the phone book with your own diagnosis and say you just need an estimate, tell them you know alot about stuff and don't want to get ripped off.

2) Tell them you'd do it yourself if you had "more time". Magically the repairman has a 35 hour day when God only gave you 24 hours.

3) Tell them you have your own parts. You bought them at Schmucks. Tell them if the parts are wrong you will come after work, pick them up and go get others while your rig sits on the hoist indefinitely.

4) Tell them you had the rig parked under a tree broken for six months and you will bring it in at noon and really need it done by 5 pm.

5) Insist they adhere to the "ballpark" estimate you insisted upon when you held the phone up to your running rig to give a free diagnosis.

6) Oh, and when it's done tell them your uncle will come in and argue about every nut and bolt, screw and washer you dealt with. And how he never touched his rig in 80000 miles and it runs perfect, but somehow he still knows so much.

This is how you get off the cheapest cause no shop will take you in and you pay nothing!!

LOL Just another day... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am at the other end of that spectrum, not to say that I am completely ignorant, but if my dealer told me something was needed, I would probably tell him to go ahead and do it. I guess part of that is trust and part is me not knowing everything their is to know about tractors

Most folks in life are great like you-
It must be human nature to have the .0005 % of the troublesome ones in the forefront of ones mind.
Like slamming your thumb in a door-its hard to forget.
Hope your service goes well and happy tractoring!!
I was working on welding chain hooks to my bucket earlier and making a light bar to clamp under the to of the ROPS for more lights. Two forward and one backward, and I'll figure a bracket for one mounted to the right rear area.

These magnets from Harbor Freight put up against the side posts would most likely work quite well with a piece of aluminum C channel spanned across the top of them.

Every so often they go on sale for ~$12.99
