OK I am planning on selling my '68 Ford 2000 tractor, but I don't know what kind of price to ask for it. This is one of the 3 cyl gas models with a 4-speed manual transmission. The is the newer 2000 that is quite a bit bigger/stronger than the older 4-cyl 2000.

As the pictures show it is pretty beat up looking, but starts reliability and runs strong. I have owned it for 7 years and and after replacing the old Holly carburetor with a newer Zenith carb and switching to electronic ignition it runs really well. It comes with a 6' front blade with a separate hyd remote.

None of the guages work and I have no idea about hours. 3pt, pto, front remote, brakes, clutch, draft ... all work fine.

The Blue Book suggests the 'Used retail' ranges from $2900 to $3550

What is this thing worth? I am near Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Asking price around here for a decent 8N-9N is $2500-$3500 and your tractor is much superior to them.I would ask $5,000 or a little more.Lack of a loader will hurt but the snow plow is nice.

For the midwest, I think the bluebook is spot on as to what you could actually expect out of it. Sure, you could "ask" a little more. And you might get it.

The cab adds little value IMO. If I were to buy it, I'd be removing it anyway. Lots of people like these small nimble tractors for doing work in the woods. Cab would just be a PITA. And its not a full enclosed cab anyway.

I dont think you will ever see 5k with where you live. And the 8n's around here that bring 2500-3k are either restored, or have a slew of attachemnts that go with them.

I dont think you will have a ton of trouble selling it for 3k-3500

Actually that 'cab' is pretty handy in the woods because you don't need to worry about anything getting messed up. It keeps all the low branches out of your face.
Thanks for the feedback.

I sold my diesel 2000, 8-spd trans, a few years newer, 4500 hours, 10 years ago, pretty beat up, hard starting (always needed either when cold), for $4400. Only lasted a couple days, parked out front with a "for-sale" sign. I would think you could get at least that for yours today, especially with the advantage of "Craigslist".

i agree. 5k will buy a ford 5000 or ford 4000 here.

i also think the blue book number is close to what will be had.

the dash cluster if it needs repalcing , depending on a few senders and stabilizer could be costing the new owner a few hundred all depending ( tach cable gaugfe, senders, stabilizer.. etc..e tc.. ).. the buywer will be figuring that in.

if cab comes off.. which i would take it off and leave rops.. then it will need fenders.. etc..

it's the 4spd and no ps. I think the bluebook is more than fair..

Agree with NYbirdman. Ask about $5k. Price depends on your area. That's what it would sell for in my area and pretty quick. You can always negotiate down. No loader is a minus but the snow plow is a plus.
