SC2400 MMM

I haven't seen one with the MMM yet so was hoping an owner can tell me how stout that deck is. Is it comparable to a Kubota BX MMM deck thickness? I'm assuming it's much more stout than a standard lawntractor deck from a box store.

It's a reinforced stamped deck. So, it's not as nice as, say, a fabricated deck found on something like a Hustler Z, but it's better than the decks you'd find at the box stores. I owned a 2165 cub circa 1995 before this and I can tell you the design and the wheels are much better on the 2400 deck. However, it looks like both are 11ga steel. The difference being the 2400 deck is reinforced along the edge with 1/2" rod. Having seen both my deck and the Kubota version, I prefer the cub deck hands down if for no other reason than the design of the wheels. The Kubota deck is just a scaled up deck they use on their smaller lawn mowers and, while that's not neccessarily a bad thing, I think the cub deck is better.

Like anything else, I recommend you go to a dealer and take a look for yourself. Also, take a trip to the Kubota dealer and look there too. Maybe even take both tractors for a little test drive in the parking lot. I did just that and ended up buying my cub over the kubota.

Thanks Hozen. I've driven both also and like some things about each one better than the other. Still weighing this out, but my Cub dealer has never brought a SC2400 to his lot with an MMM on it (in fact, he tells me in 20 years, he's only sold 2 tractors with a mid deck and doesn't recommend them), so I've never seen one on the Cub in person. The Kubota deck is much more thick and solid than any lawn mower deck I've seen on a box store lawntractor, so I just wanted to make sure the Cub deck was as stout if I decide to buy from him. Love the position control and the FEL controller placement on the Cub.

My local Cub dealer is now not stocking any SC2400's or 2450's, so they have to be ordered if I buy from him. He is only stocking EX's. He sells Kioti's as his main brand.

My take on what you just posted is that your dealer doesn't have any tractors with a MMM and, therefore, will tell you he doesn't recommend them so he can make a sale on a tractor in his inventory. If it were me, I'd run to the next closest dealer even if it's a little bit of a drive. It's worth seeing what you're buying before pulling the trigger.

Anyone happen to know what the going price is for the MMM? I'm thinking about selling my 46" craftsman rider and getting the MMM for my Sc2400. I saw a price somewhere on the net that was around $1900 I think it was.

I just got mine for $1800 but that was with the purchase of a tractor. That was the advertised price. However, I did pay less with the package deal we worked out.

Odd that he doesn't recommend them. It seems to be just fine to me. Quality is good. Seemed much better than the JD deck. The spindles/bearings are a separate unit that bolts to the deck with three ears IIRC. Seemed easy to service like that.

I wish it was a little bigger though. Seems hardly a challenge for the tractor.

I spoke with the dealer today I bought my tractor from and he is telling me it would be around $2300 and with tax it would be around $2500 which seems kind of high.

I guess I should have got it when I bought the tractor as I probably could have gotten it for a little cheaper.
