Last week I was in a West Virginia RK store and I was asking their tractor specialist about liquid ballast in the 19 and 24hp models. He said it would void the warranty and that TYM doesn't like it, but he couldn't be specific about it.
Is this true? Does that void the warranty? If so, what is the specific danger from it?

I'd be interested in hearing the answer to this question. Can't imagine this would void the warranty.

Hope not, I was just getting ready to add washer fluid to mine. Thought someone gave 14 gal. per tire est. to this question before.

This has me wondering as well. Even my riding mowers have a couple of gallons of starch in the tires. I can't see why loading the tires on the RK24 should void the warranty. It shouldn't be any different than running the backhoe or a ballast box on the back.

Not specifically RK, but this "void the warranty " topic comes up occasionally.

Bottom line is a manufacturer cannot do a blanket void of the warranty for the installation of aftermarket accessories.

They can however deny a claim on a part that is directly linked to the modification or accessory.

Example: you fill your tires and the rim cracks. Whether or not the fluid caused it or the wheel was defective, they can deny the warranty claim.

You install a 3rd function valve, later on your loader valve or 3ph valve starts sticking. They can deny that claim.

Notice I said can deny. Does not mean they will.

Now if on that machine with the filled tires and 3rd function valve, the front differential fails, they cannot deny the claim. The modifications are not related to the front differential.

My salesman and I spoke about this when purchasing my RK19. I did not wish to do so, but my salesman seeemd confident they would do so if requested. Recently I’ve thought about putting liquid ballast in the rear tires to give the tractor a little more ground and rear weight.
I could only see the wheels and tires being affected by any such warranty issues, I would need to read the warranty in the manual, but tires generally aren’t covered, they are a WEAR item.

I just bought my RK24 and heard the same message that it would void warranty. I live on a hill and want that extra ballast. I asked the salesman for Wheel weights and am awaiting a response. I have not been able to find anything for wheel weights and would like to add the weight in the tires but waiting on his response. I have a feeling if I add the liquid ballast or wheel weights and have a transmission issue, it could be on me??? Will let everyone know what happens.
