Reversing Rear Tires

you can do the unfilled R4's solo. i did, and i weigh about 150lbs. i just kept them upright, not sure how heavy they are to lift if they fall over (probably not too bad). when i got both off, moved it around to the other side, leaned against hub and adjusted the jack until i could slide them on w/o lifting.

hardest part for me was finding a good spot for the jack stands. everything is so tight, there weren't alot of options for both the stands and the jack at the same time.

I'm getting ready to do this as to gain some width. I have a couple of dumb questions.

1) What are you guys using to jack and support the rear end to do the swap? All my jack stands are too short. Did you buy the taller ones (expensive) or rig something up to get the both back wheels off the ground?

2) I have a farm jack, (and several auto jacks) what is the best jack point on the back to get both sides off the ground at the same time?

3) what is the weight of the 28" R-4 wheel assembly? Can I do this myself or will I need some help?

TIA for the help!

This was how I lifted mine. I needed to add the 4x4 on top of the jack to even reach the axle.

Done! Used two 2x12's under each jack stand and positioned them on the flat plate on each axle. Jacked it up and went at it. The track is much wider and looks a ton better. Also much more room under the back for service. Took 30 min for the whole job. Thanks all for the insight and I'm looking forward to the extra stability!

I just did my fronts today for kicks. Looks and feels much better. They are now almost flush with my rears an overall has a very stable stance. Gained about 6" on each side.

If your front axle pivots (like most Deere MFWD CUTs), you won't really get much advantage to it, other then psychological.
Not criticizing...I reversed the front wheels on my 790 too. I preferred them that way too...

Yup it pivots, totally understand but it does "look" much better! lol

The wider front stance probably also increases your turning radius.

Didn't measure but did full lock-to-lock in both directions and it didn't seem that much different. I'm sure it's a bit more but not overly noticeable.
