I need a swinging drawbar for a JD 1070. Any idea where to get one besides the JD parts store? I want to avoid paying $170 for one!

TSC has them in stock, not sure about $ but I'll bet a lot less then $170.00.

I just bought the standard one from TSC for my Deere 855. The drawbar was $40 and I had to drill two holes. But other than that it was a perfect fit.

Are you sure you want a "swinging draw bar"? Or just a regular straight one? Two different things...

I was looking at one of those for my 955. Just curious, but what were the holes you drilled needed for?

If there are other older tractors that use that same draw bar, you may find it in some of the JD bone yards. I found one in PA for a 301A, and got the draw bar and all the other parts I needed to put it on for less than the price of the draw bar from JD. Have you tried Agrisupply in your area? Newer tractors like that can be impossible to find parts other than dealers or bone yards. A&I, one of the best for tractor parts like that does not do compacts like yours, or compacts at all.
Using a piece of stock and drilliing the holes is not a good idea, as draw bars are very hardened high quality steel. Regular mild steel will bend like made.

I was at Orshceln's (local farm & home center) on Saturday and they had a universal drawbar that looks just like the one at TSC. It was only $32 so I picked it up. Fit like a glove on my 955, but like gsdavis, I had to drill a 3/4" hole for the shear pin.

It needed two mounting holes drilled. Actually just one will do if you don't plan on moving it. The factory one is just about identical to the TSC one. You can see the specs of the factory drawbar on JDParts.
The drilled hole is for the mounting pin which is more rearward that the any hole on the TSC one.
