'Tis the season to think of cleaning snow...

I just updated my blog on my experience converting a rear mounted 3PH Snowblower to work on a Front End Loader. I used a hydraulic motor to drive the snowblower's PTO. Part 2 shows my complete rebuild of an old 3PH Lucknow snowblower and conversion of the manual chute turner to hydraulic turning.

You can view Part 1 of the blog post here.

Please send me your comments!

I'm in the process of getting some more photos of the Quick Attach to 3PH Adapter Plate I made. If anyone is interested in any particular details let me know.

Nice setup. I saw the list of pros & cons at the end. So in the end was it worth all the labor & expense? Did you previously have a plow on the front & the blower on the rear? Or just the blower & bucket?

I just welded a QH to a SSQA plate to make my plow mount as well. Worked great & I ended up using it a lot for moving other impliments around & doing maintenance on them. Being able to pick up my flail or tiller & rotate them 90 degrees to work on the undercarriage is great.

I figured the $350 risk was worth it as I could still use the hydraulic motor elsewhere. I don't really count my time or the metal cost as my spare time is "free" ;-) and the metal for the 3PH to AQ adapter came out of my scrap bin. In all it worked out better than I expected. If I kept the smaller snow blower I would have kept using it on the front...which I did for about 5 seasons.

I don't use the 3PH to QA adapter currently and its collecting dust in the corner. I want to make a power rake setup so I'm hanging onto the adapter for now. I did re-purpose the hydraulic motor and hoses - I converted my 8" chinese chipper to hydraulic feed - worth every penny there!

Generally I leave a set of forks on the loader as I use those the most in winter for firewood etc. I don't use a plow because we get too much snow here.
