Can you believe I actually had tire chains for my GTO? Had to remove a few links.

Believe that you did have them? No.

Believe that you still have them and could find them? Not so much...

I my self am not surprised. In the good old days most every thing was rear wheel drive instead of front wheel drive. Yes, 4 wheel drive existed for pickups, but was not near as common as today. Weght, studded snow tires and chains was the answer. You take a little old 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive pick up and boy you had a squirrelly mess on snow and ice. I new a guy that had a set of chains for a Ford galaxy 500 that he used to get back and forth to work when weather was bad. So yeah, chains back in the "good old days " is not that surprising to me.

That's it in a nutshell. When your only vehicle is a 1965 GTO and you have to get to work in the snow you put on chains. Doubt that I used them more than once or twice, however.
Had to take off the racing slicks to run tire chains. Would have been all of twenty years of age at the time.

I'm not thinking of the days when we bought a car we actually used it.

Disappointed, from the title, I was expecting to see a V8 Mahindra.:(

Maybe he has an old 389 tri power laying around too!
Make that loader really work wouldn't it?

Haha--It wasn't the three deuces just a Carter AFB quad if I remember correctly.
I now drive an old 2008 Cadillac STS which puts out the same 320 HP as the 389 in the GTO but does it with a hundred less cubic inches of block. Not bragging on the Caddy, it's an electronic nightmare.
My wife went to start it a while back with the keyless pushbutton and the battery didn't have quite enough oomph to satisfy the crankshaft sensor so it just kept cranking itself until the battery died. Put in a new battery and then found out that the long cranking had ruined the starter which is located under the intake manifold and cost $600 to replace. :)
