I would expect he won't need a co-signature having a full time jobs and a few loans under his belt.

I don't know what car prices are like where you live, but lotsa luck finding something that new that cheap here.
Ne Hampshire is a lot like Vermont, Massachusetts, New York and Jersey. Nothing is really cheap.

Actually found a bunch of them in that price range with the mileage locally.

It's nice to know what your bank or credit union charges, but I've always found the best rates from the dealer I'm buying from. And if you drag it out and keep telling them no, they somehow find a better rate and lower monthly payment. Just don't ever tell them what you are willing to pay per month, always focus on the lowest price for the vehicle, and that you don't have to have it today, and you have other places that you want to go look for a similar vehicle. The last thing they want is for you to go somewhere else to buy from!!!

Eddie, like I tell people, the best time to buy something is when you don't need it. This gives you time and the worst thing you want to do is be in a rush to buy something, particularly a high ticket item.

Keep in mind, when my son gets home, he won't have a car and lets just say sad to say, he probably won't be taking his time. He should get 2 weeks R&R when he gets home, so that will be the time he most likely has and when he wants to get it done.

In hindsight, I should have never bought that truck when I was in the Marine Corps. This was back in 1984 and I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California. The bus went to Oceanside and a few other places, but then you had to catch another bus to get to the Mall or where you wanted to go. Going out at night wasn't practical on the bus, so I wanted a truck. After getting the truck, I hardly every drove it because a group of us all went to town in the same car, that held a lot more people than my truck. It literally sat there for weeks at a time since everything on base was in walking distance. Then a year later I went overseas for Embassy Duty and those monthly payments really annoyed me. Fortunately, my parents were able to sell it for me while I was away. When I got out, I bought another truck from a different dealer and got started with my life. If I could go back in time, I would not have bought that truck or anything else while I was in the Marines.

That's just it, he has no loans on file. First two loans were paid directly back to us.
ho I see sorry for my misunderstanding, your right it is written clearly in post #1.... my brain simply went to co-financed .... In this case I would assume you will have to co-signed although he has a secure full time job plus a credit card history so might not hard to say... easy to say now i know but you should've got a loan for one of these prior vehicle but its the past now.... it took me two loan before I could take a loan without a co-signature one for sure but the second I think so I only had that full time jobs for a month or two so I think I had too for that reason.

Even if he can pay cash he should get a loan that way he built his credit score and it will spare you a bigger loan in the future. (like a house)

Those are his choices not mine.

Corolla XSE hatch back or Mazda hatch back. Not exactly certain of the Mazda model, but he pointed one out to me, and didn't look that bad IMO.
