Rotary Cutter PTO shaft for 6' bush hog

I hear you namyessam. I certainly don't have the right tools. You were crystal clear. It probably makes sense to make a couple of calls and see if I might find a shop nearby, and see what it costs to take a look. It doesn't seem bent too badly, and the U-joints seem good. If the dollars don't make sense, I can buy a new one.

This 3 sided shaft certainly seems built lighter than the one on my old (30 year old) Bush Hog brand mower. This is a 5 foot mower (and in really rough shape), or I'd be swapping out the shafts.

You know, I was worried about the gearbox on the mower, but hadn't considered the pro shaft on the tractor. Messing up bearings there would be a disaster.

I'm mowing some fields that haven't been mowed in many years, and am hitting some pretty thick brush. I have a light duty King Kutter, and an ancient Bush Hog in extremely rough shape - both 5 footers. Neither one covers my tire tracks. I bought the Wallace mower thinking it was heavy enough to mow the fields for a couple of years - enough to kill the brush and get it back to pasture. After that, I'd like to have purchased something in better shape/new, more in line with the Bush Hog brand or Woods. I'd kind of considered the Wallace a "stop gap measure". $350 seemed like a good bargain.

deffinately repalce it. it's doubtfull you could bend it back right without a driveline shop. and with it out.. it can hog out pto shaft bearings on the tractor and the input shaft on the mower.

Just remember if a shop is able to repair it, don't forget the cost of replacing the safety shields. Remember safety first don't get wound up in your work. Good luck
