I'm losing my mind.
I know I responded to this thread this morning, so there's either a reply to another thread that will make absolutley no sense to anybody, or I forgot to post it.
Oh well. My rake is made from 1 1/2 inche by 6 inch steel and welded together with some very heavy duty angle iron. The pins to hold it on are from a hydraulic cilinder and teh brackets are one inch plate.
It's so heavy that my backhoe struggles to lift it. I don't know the numbers, but it's allot more then a heaped yard of clay.
I had the dealer include it when I bought my dozer. It was originally built for a high track Cat D5.
If you build the rake, be sure it's strong enough to ploy through dirt with your dozer pushing it. Make sure you have a way of mounting it. I pick mine up with my front loader bucket and set it into place. I can do it by myself in about half an hour.
You can also have it leaning away from a tree with a chain on it to keep it from falling down. Then you can drive to it and get your blade under it. Lift the blade and if you're lined up right, it all fits together.
Rakes for big dozers are very, very heavy!!!! Be sure you have a way to install and remove it.
Congrats on the dozer.
