This question has probably been asked before, so I apologize in advance for any redundancy. I recently sold my old tractor and now have a new 2024 YT359C. I’ve installed the radio and some other accessories, and I’m considering adding a camera at the back and one at the front for loader work with forks.

My question is: Could I simply tap into the radio's power and ground wires behind the deck, or would it be better to use the in-cab cigarette lighter? I’m trying to determine the best and safest way to power the camera system without disassembling too much. The camera system's power specifications are 9-36V DC.

IF cigarette lighter goes on/off with key that would be simplest solution... There is another way by adding a relay to turn on/off camera power, and relay is controlled by taping the operate path of relay into any circuit the comes under key control.... The voltage of camera system is not really important but what is, is current draw (amperage) and will the fuse for radio wiring take the extra currend for cameras if you add them to radio wiring.......

In this thread, bmaverick has a link for the service manual..section 12 has the wiring.

Yes you can. I don't think it will hurt anything on tractor or camera to connect the camera to either circuit for testing and temporary use. But for full time use I would use the lighter circuit and here is why. -

Obviously the Lighter hot line (12v+) has a fuse and larger diameter wiring that can handle the heat of a heavy amperage draw. What we don't know is if it is controlled by the ignition key switch. That's not a problem, it's just convenient to be able to turn the key off and know that nothing is using up battery power

The Radio hot line (12v+) probably is under ignition key control - though we don't know that for sure. However, even if the radio is designed to power additional speakers, chances are good that the Radio circuit it has a smaller fuse and also smaller wiring than the Lighter circuit. That is probably just fine ... but we don't know absolutely positively for sure that the wires powering the radio are up to the task. Just replacing the Radio circuit fuse with a larger one doesn't reduce the added load on the wiring.

That is why most unknown accessories are made to be run from the lighter circuit. Powering things from that circuit is always safer because it is designed to handle the heating of heavy current loads.

You can use a volt/ohm meter to test for voltage at the
cigarette lighter, test when key is off and do the same
for your radio. IMHO you can use either sources for power.
as they have approx 10 amps

use the cigarette lighter, radio's if turned up loud enough can use a couple amps.

Thanks for that, Willy. Here's the diagram that came with the system. Also, attached is the fuse/amps diagram for the YT359. Looks like it's a 10AMP fuse. I'm guessing the ACC fuse is the cigarette lighter as it says not to use as such but for accessories only. It's the only extra power outlet inside the cab. On the cigarette lighter cover it says 12V 120 watts max and it's controlled by the ignition switch (tested).

I’ll get an adapter for this. Thanks for confirming everything. However, I need to verify a couple of things: The 'ACC' fuse is labeled 'Accessories' but doesn't specify in the manual what it is, and I believe the 'External Power Supply' fuse is for the cigarette lighter. I don't have an outlet on the back of the tractor and the fuse for 'External Power Supply' is labeled 'CABIN' which makes me suspect it's the actual fuse for the cigarette lighter plug. If that’s the case, I’m wondering if I could use an 'add-a-circuit' fuse tap on the ACC fuse to power the system?

I contacted the dealer to confirm and inspected it myself as well. The ACC fuse, labeled 'Accessories,' powers both the cigarette lighter and the radio. The CABIN fuse, labeled 'External Power Supply,' doesn’t appear to be connected to anything. According to the dealer, it’s likely for the external power plug in the rear, which is installed on some models but not others. He also said most cab camera systems draw very little amps and should be fine running off the ACC. Both fuses are connected to ignition power. I’ve attached a picture to show how the dash cover is removed. It slides towards the driver—don’t pry it towards the doors. Push it towards the driver's seat, and it will pop off easily. Also, you can use a plastic trim removal tool to assist if needed. I'll post pictures once I'm done with the install.

(y) Turned out good. I just wired directly. Might need to adjust front camera but happy with it.
