Just put a small tank heater on a timer to operate only during the lowest power rates.

What is with lowest power rates? This has been brought up a couple times.

Some places offer peak, and off peak (cheaper), power rates....depends on your location and power supplier.

Need to have time of use TOU metering...

My Uncle actually had two meters... one would register off peak... it was hooked up to his hydronic heating and domestic hot water... all the heating was done off peak and stored in a buffer... worked well and good payback over the long haul... about 40% less from 10 pm to 4 am

I've heard of that in some manufacturing plants I've worked in. Never heard of it for residential.

With the new "Smart" meters the reporting is configurable...

Remember when you received a simple bill for meter and usage?

Now with have tiers, generation, transmission, dercomissioning, time of use, plus a list of associated fees

Old thread bump instead of starting a new one.

Scanned a few listings for these today. Nothing useful under $500 for propane versions. But I noticed they stated using 12 amps of power. That stumped me as to why a gas water heater would use so much power. Then I thought ... maybe a water pump circulating water instead of system pressure?

After many years I finally have the luxury of a sink in my shop building.
Anyone have any recommendations for an electric point of use hot water heater?
Crusing the WWW there are a plethora of choices both 120V and 240V. I would prefer 120V.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

I've Tiny Titans underneath sink in pool equipment area for our outside shower and sink there. Used to have one for the sink in the carriage house but seldom use it. Think I removed it. Have them underneath both kitchen sinks and underneath the sink in the laundry room, all areas where we frequently use hot water. Think they'll pay themselves out for savings in hot water. You can figure it by the amount of water it takes to get hot water if you don't have them there. That hot water will have already been heated but cools off between uses. Having the tanks right there eliminates that needless heating.

In the pool equipment area, the feed is cold water, but it's hot water feed to the others.
