I don't have a lot of experience and am looking for a machine for work around my house/foundation/yard. Drainage mostly.

I would choose a Kubota or Deere, but most of those are out of my ballpark, or, have been gone before I get more than a wiff.

But I do see Terramite t5c's around. I have used one a couple of times and other than the drive being noisy (in my opinon) seemed to be able to do the job.

I realize that "real" tractor folk might consider this a toy, but looking for opinions.

Thanks in advance.

You need a tractor that fits what you need it to do and what you can afford. It does not matter what someone else has or thinks. Only what works for you.

Sorry, I have no experience with Terramite. I will be going to YouTube and looking though!!

If you like it and it will do the job go for it I am in agreement with previous poster I don't even know what a terramite is but sounds cool does Arnold have one.

I rented a Terramite to dig a garage foundation. Some time ago. Needed a small machine because access was difficult and didn't want to widen the existing gate or tear up the existing lawn. The machine did the work (trench 3 ft to frost line) although slow because it is small and light. The light weight is easy on lawns. These days I think most folks would use a small mini excavator which is also maneuverable and light but digs a lot better.

Bought one, when turned 60. I joke to people and call it my motorized wheel barrow/shovel! I have done a lot with it including filling in a 20-40 inground pool, but I know it limits. I had a 36" tree come down and didn't even try to use it. Borrowed a case 580 for that job. Get it at the right price, Keep it running and you will always get back your money.

Got any guidance on the right price part? The one's I have seen from the late 90's are asking 7000 range.

My father has one he bought to do some dirt moving and rock wall building a few years ago....it's simple, but gets a lot of work done. My sister, and brother-in-law have borrowed it quite a bit on their horse farm, and he says the FEL is okay, but he's been very impressed with what the hoe will do. I don't think my father has had to do any work to it other than routine maintenance.

I rented one this summer to dig a couple trenches to install drainage lines. I am not an experienced operator but got the job done. My impression after using the T5 for about 3 days is that they are cumbersome to operate, loud, and thirsty for fuel. It sure beat using a pick and shovel but I was glad to see it leave on the back of the rental truck. Of course this could be due to my lack of operator experience so YMMV.
