Old Barn used for equipment, You think this will work?

If the barn is old enough to be a real post and beam barn, there are no load bearing walls, the posts carry the load. I'm voting for saving the barn asis and building something new for the implements.

The OP might want to top up the insurance on his equipment if it's important to him. The barn might last another 100 years but who knows.

I love those old barns, it's a shame to see them go down unexpectedly.
