Now I\'m a Grandpa too

My daughter had a little girl Tues. 9 lb 7 3/4 oz - 21" long. Grandpa and Grandma are going to see them this weekend. Too bad they're 4 hours away, but it could be worse. Mom, Dad, and baby are doing fine. Virtual cigars for all of you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Now I\'m a Grandpa too

Congratulations, and welcome to the club! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It's quite a feeling when you get that call, isn't it? She's a big girl! Our grandaughter, who was born this past February, weighed 7 lbs. and was 22" long.

What's the little girls name?

Don't feel bad about being 4 hours away. We're 3 1/2 DAYS away if we drive! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Enjoy the time you have with your kids and your new grandaughter. Pictures are a requirement if you want to maintain good standing in the TBN Grandparents Club! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Now I\'m a Grandpa too

Thanks Garry,

It's quite a feeling all right. Duane called and said that the baby was too big for my daughter to have naturally and they were going to have to do a c-section. Then he would call back in about 30 minutes when it was over. 1.5 hours later we finally got the call, and everything went well. That was the longest hour and a half that I can remember.

They named her Kathryn Marie, and will call her Katie. Duane said after they took her out, they put her on a table to wipe her off and she immediately emptied her bowels and bladder. I told him she must get that from me, as I do the same thing after eating at most fast food places. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My wife can't get the grin off her face, and I have to admit, it's hard for me to get the silly look off my face too (not the normal silly look, but the new one). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We're there too! I keep finding myself injecting something about my grandaughter into every conversation that I have, regardless of what the real topic is!

We even went out and bought the exact same digital camera and software that our kids have so there's no excuse for them not sending us pictures in the e-mail. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Our daughter-in-law and the grandaughter will be here for 12 days beginning July 5th! WOOHOO!!

And if people don't think grandparents sacrifice for their grandchildren, I'm even skipping an annual golf event so that I can spend time with them!

You'll be doing those kinds of things for your grandaughter too! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Now I\'m a Grandpa too

We're scheduled for induced labor next Monday for our first grandchild that will be local. Of course, with his heritage he might show up early raising heck. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We've got grandkids from D-Day minus four to thirty one years old. The three oldest came by way of oldest daughter getting remarried. That also brought us into great grandparent land a month later. You have to love this extended family stuff.

But this little fella is from my youngest daughter and just a couple of miles away. The rest of them are in Oklahoma or California, darn. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A couple of months ago we did the four D sonogram thing. It's neater'n a pup with a bow around his neck. They had us all sitting around like in an oversized living room watching a big plasma screen. Daughter and the nurse was behind us.

Nurse asked if anyone was interested in what the baby's sex was. There was a rather lot of noise to the affirmative. That camera did a bottom's up coming in from the floor at speed view.

Someone sounding a lot like me said a little too loud, "that's from the mother's side of the family!"

Son in law was instantly on the phone bragging like, well, it was embarrassing. You'd thought it was all his doing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yup, we're excited.

Hi Garry,

Yep, that's started already. I'm going to miss seeing one of the neatest model railroads in the US on Sunday to go see our Granddaughter. But you what, I don't mind a bit. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks everyone for your good wishes, I appreciate it. Mom and baby are scheduled to come home today, so we'll give them a few hours to get settled before we go thundering through the front door tomorrow. I just hope I can get there without a ticket. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll take a good shot of her and post it when we get back.
