My husband passed away in January. I have 6 tractors; 4 of them he put a price tag on, 1 of them he told me to keep, this one - a Massey Ferguson Serial Number "TO - 28173" was his next project; does not run but appears to be all there. Has some new parts on it (but I can't tell you what they are). Good tires on back. Car tires on front. No idea what year or model or value; can anyone help to identify this thing and help me to figure out what it might be worth?

Most people that dabble in old tractors are aquainted with someone nearby doing the same. Have you asked your husband's friends? They know the local market and may have even saw the tractor in question.

I wanna say Massey Ferguson TO-35 from 1965? The bonnet looks a bit off though vs pictures I've seen of them.

My condolences mi_bet.
What area are you in, maybe we can find someone local to help?
Tractorhouse has a lot of tractors for sale and may have something similar. (tractorhouse.com)

My condolences.

I am guessing it is not just one tractor. Lots of parts were interchangable between different models back in the day.

The sheet metal looks like a 37, 42, or 835. Which were late 50's to early 60's tractors. However the serial number would indicate a 1950 to-20. But it definitely isnt a TO-series hood and grill.

So its possible its a TO with a newer hood and grill. Or its possible its a newer 37/42/835 tractor with parts off a TO including whatever part that serial number plate is on.

Sorry cant help any more. AS far as value....its hard to pit a price on a non-running machine. Depends on just how bad it is and/or how good other parts are and if the engine is stuck or not. $1000 would be pretty optimistic as it sits.

TO 35. Is it gas or diesel?

What do you see in the pictures that make you say TO35?

Not arguing, just asking. Cause I honestly have no idea beyond what I have already posted

I doubt it would be worth over 3k if it did run. With it not running probably a grand.

I don't know. I assume gas. How would I know? Perhaps I should take pictures of the motor.
