LS XR4140
Last Friday I was suppose to have another week before I received my new tractor. At 5:30 the dealer called and said they got it Thursday night and installed my 3rd function and Grapple. They wanted to know if I would mind them bringing it Saturday around 7:30AM. Felt like freaking Christmas! Right on cue they showed up and off loaded my new XR4140 with grapple and Backhoe. I was in heaven. I live in south west Florida right in Irma's path so I had a lot of work to do. 5 Hrs later while working with my neighbor on a stump I very easily snapped the Loader links at the bucket on one side. I will post photos. I contacted the dealer and they said that they would fed ex new parts right away. 1.5 hours later while using my backhoe with the engine at around 1300 RPMS the engine revved up and started spewing white smoke out of the muffler. I went to shut it down but thought is this a regen thing? The engine was cycling up and down. It seemed to have a mind of its own so I thought it was doing as it was designed to. About 7 to 8 minutes later it began to idol and the smoke stopped. I thought everything was fine until I found oil blow by all over the loader connections at the tractor. I parked it and called the dealer. They sent a tech out this morning and he asked what the heck I did to this thing???? I just sold my 08 30HP Kioti tractor that I had for three years. Never had a problem with it.......Anyway they are coming to pick her up in the morning. This sucks!!!

Man that does suck. I was supposed to have my new Kubota delivered last week but some of the accessories that were dealer installed had not shown up yet. So far all I have done it sit in it at the dealers lot and take pictures. Hopefully your luck will turn around.

Sad, really sad. I'd cry.

I had a similar issue when mine went into regen for the first time. I can tell you that running under load at 1300rpm will clog the DPF really fast and cause the smoking and cycling that you experienced. You should run it at no less than 2000rpm while doing any sort of work. Were there any lights on the dash when it was smoking and cycling?

Exactly what I was thinking.

Ive been told that it was a bad Hydraulic pump and seals. To you mechanics out there. Is it possible for hydraulic fluid to end up in the oil pan????

Another question - I don't see any information on Regen times in the manual. Why isn't this posted? Does anyone know what it should be on the xr4140?

Most definitely. The hydraulic pump is mounted with the drive shaft inside the engine compartment, so if the back seal blows on the pump, all the hydraulic oil is eventually pumped into the engine crankcase which may cause the crankshaft seals to blow if the crankcase becomes overly full.
