Tractor
650 John Deere
My old 650 can finally get a much needed rest. I've been looking for a replacement for some time and finally decided on another Deere.
Getting it delivered next week along with the land pride cutter after they install the fel and radio. 20200910_124943.jpg20200911_122455.jpg

Congrats!

That's a big jump in tractor size. I am hoping to jump to a mid size cab tractor some day. My backhoe has a cab with AC and it is much more pleasant to work in than my open station tractor.

Mighty fine looking unit. A suggestion. I can see by the pic you posted - the rear tires look to be over inflated. Be sure you check EVERYTHING on that new tractor when delivered and PRIOR to putting it to work.

ALL fluid levels - ALL bolts tight and torqued down. THEN read your new OP manual - cover to cover with understanding.

You might call the dealer and see if you can get your OP manual now. Good chance to read it and gain understanding prior to delivery.

Great advice above.

Definitely put a pull handle on the lugs and check the tire pressure. Over inflated tires are easily punchered and don't come with road hazard.

John Deere has operator manuals online for most current models.

After checking bolt torque, take a black sharpie and put a line from the head of the bolt to the plate. A quick glance at the bolts after that will tell you they are still tight.

Tires also look to be mounted at the narrowest width. Good for transporting and flat country. This what you want?

Thanks for the feedback all and will do. I will be mowing in rolling hills so I'll check on that this week before they deliver it.

What a beautiful tractor. Congrats. If you know what tire width you want, it might be worth having the dealer adjust the tread before he delivers it. Those wheels are HEAVY, and the wheel lug torque takes the next size larger tools.
Love the way it looks.

Good point rScotty. Mine are adjusted out to the next to widest setting. Mine are loaded with RimGuard - estimated weight per tire ~ 1000# or more. The dealer didn't mind making this adjustment and his tilt-bed truck was more than wide enough to transport at this wider setting.
