Neighbor has a T474 hydro. PTO doesn't electrically engage, mechanically engages fine and locks up to the gear train but will not spin when PTO switch is in manual or auto.

Checked the switch and have continuity as expected. Wiring went directly to the controller module.

He just bought it with 50 hours and never used the PTO. Is there more to it than the controller like a relay somewhere that would make manual and auto not work? Otherwise is the problem going to be in the controller....no place else it could be?

There is a lever to the right rear of the seat, red plastic cap. Has center off position and arrows pointing in opposite directions. What is that please?
Thanks
Mark

Thank you sir. The manual lever has a sign on the side of the fender well adjacent to the lever. It was in the on position. Found the problem. Upper right corner of the dash was a button we didn't push....must have had the wrong name to be suspect. Anyway pushing that activated the PTO.

Oh yes. I believe TYM uses an extra button to turn the PTO on. While the Manual/Auto button just switches between both modes.

At least it was an easy fix.

Same thing happened to me this spring. I forgot to push the top button, and just turned on the switch. PTO would not engage so thought something was wrong. Even had a friend look at it. Later I pushed the button in and everything worked fine. Sad thing is I have had the tractor several years and have use the PTO many times. Must be old age setting in!!!!!!!

My TYM273 also won't start if the PTO button is pressed "on". Several times I've been baffled why it won't turn over only to realize the there's the tinies little gear symbol on the dash indicating the PTO button is pressed. Not obvious . . . and even less obvious if the power if off.
