Need Dimensions for Back Sheild of RTS62-04 Bush Hog Tiller

I picked up a used Bush Hog tiller but it's missing the back deflector shield. These are no longer available from Bush Hog so I would like to try to make one. Can someone please provide the rough dimensions if you have that available? Thanks in advance.

Don't have one to measure but it can't be that hard if you own a tape measure. B=distance between side panels. A=distance from hinge to ground or from hinge to end of chain. About a five minute job--Including the bends.

I have a 50 inch BH RTS tiller and has 1/4" x 1 1/4" steel pieces to mount the shield hinge (steel rod runs across the entire top width)

The BH photo doesn't really show that detail at least not very clearly. I think they are in there but facing down along the sides


Mine are set straight out horizontal to the back. And have always run it that way. That puts the shield farther back from the tines. As it is now the shield sometimes can still swing and bang off the tines if its raised with the PTO is running. The brackets are 3.25 long and the 1/2 dia. mounting holes are 2" O.C.


So can't really say if they are all the same :confused2:

My "A" dimension is 13" and the "B" (bottom edge) is an inch shorter than the total inside measurement

DFB, you are actually missing some pieces on the back of your tiller. They prevent the back shield from hitting the tines. I'll post a picture later.

Yup I have them too.

Got to thinking about what I wrote earlier and its not the BH I hit tines with at all...its the 60" Sundowner tiller I use on the job at the orchard farm. We're lucky we even have a tailgate on that.

Didn't mean to be misleading. There are a lot of tractors and pieces of equipment I work with
