Hi guys,
Do you guys know where I can get, or do any of you dealers carry 8.3 x 20 R1 Ag tires for my Kama 554 fronts?
These are tube type tires and I need (2) of them.
How about the tubes for them?
Thanks,
Rob-

It's possible Chip carries the originals. I was figuring on replacing mine with tubeless, if possible, when they wear out. If they were tubeless then they would be easy to repair flats with plugs. Tire slime could also be used with greater ease.

Can't say for sure on our KAMAs - but some rims are tube-type only. I had some on an Alfa. They won't seal properly if/when tubeless tires are mounted. Not discouraging you from trying, but consider also that sidewall damage is probably more common on R1 tires than are circumferential punctures.

Long story short; look before you leap.

Have you considered trying local tire shops like Goodyear or Firestone[ name for reference only] as they may be able to order in what you need.:D

Thanks for the link but I found a local supplier who just happens to have those tires.
I think they have to be tube type because of the rims. I'm not sure, but I don't think my rims would handle a tubeless tire?

From the pictures Rob, your tires look fine. Are you getting a spare set for your KAMA?

Yeah, there is tons of life left on the tread.
But a year ago I ripped the sidewall on the left front. I used a tire boot to patch the cut in the tire (tube was not cut) but over the year+ it's gotten pretty bad.
Here is the origonal thread on the repair.
DIY Tire Repair
The tear has worked its way closer to the bead now and pretty soon it will rip through it. In fact, about six months ago I used another tire sidewall instead of that small patch in the thread. It was getting worse then but the larger sidewall patch held for another eight months so far. Today, it's way worse than shown in those photos in that thread. It's only about an inch away from the bead now.
That's why I want to get a new pair of fronts and keep the good one for a spare.
I should take a photo of what it looks like today and post it.

Here are the before and after photos.
What looks like the inner tube in the last photo is really the tire boot I made. You can see how big that original tear got. The inner tube is trying to push that sidewall boot out now. You can also see there's lots of tread left. lol ... Maybe I can sew up the sidewall to save it even longer?:D

Thanks for the reply Rob. I did the same thing for one of the front of my International Backhoe. It didn't last long, and I had to get two front tires also. Thank goodness they were 16.5" rims, and tires are plentyful, especially for 2WD tractors. :)
