My dad has a 53 NAA that my grandfather bought new. It lived a life of work, and never really retired. It bushhogged 100 acres a year after my grandfather retired from farming, and did a lot of PTO pump duty in the sugarbush. My dad paid a local guy to fix it up, and I wish he had just brought it to me, but time is short.

Its all fixed up, painted and running well, however the center differential housing has a crack on the bottom where someone ran it over a rock long ago. its been welded, brazed and JB welded and it still leaks. I wish they had replaced the housing when they had it all apart last year.

I have located a good housing, and have offered to swap it out for my father. I am wondering if there is a writeup somewhere on how this might be done. I assume the hubs have to come apart on both sides to remove the axle "bells".

Is this operation as straight forward as taking the tractor apart and putting the guts into the new case?

Thank you!
