I have a MF 240 that runs and work great , but when I throttle down to idle and then jusks the throttle to full revs it starts to spatter like a petrol engine with a carburator that gets flooded .
If I take the revs up slow it runnes fine .
Help to diagnose ?

How does it behaves when it's under load?

Sounds like injectors that need a good cleaning.. spray pattern is not atomizing the fuel & its "flooding" the cylinder w/ fuel..
Does it BLACK smoke when it does it.??
IF no smoke.. check the filters..

TRY all your tests WITHOUT the air cleaner..& its best if u can pull the hose right off the intake manifold..
Have u tried moving the pump timing any.?? Find the timing marks on the pump flange & engine block,
& make a note as to where its at NOW.. THEN loosen the 3 pump bolts & twist the pump 1-2* one way or the other..
& TIGHTEN IT BACK DOWN BEFORE U START THE ENGINE!!! VERY IMPORTANT..
Good luck.

Do pumps "advance" the fuel pulse to the injectors for higher rpm like the spark on gas engines?

Most ALL "rotary pumps" do.. they have an advance mechanism on the lower side of the pump housing..

DL.. U have a CAV pump right.?? IF its not painted over.. theres an arrow on the name tag..
To advance the timing.. u turn the pump OPPOSITE the direction of the arrow..{1-2*}
I hope this helps..
