mahindra 3510 as snow scraper question

thank you for taking time to read this, i appreciate your interest.

how does the 3510 with a FEL do as a snow scraper? i am having the farm lane paved and part of it is a pretty good grade. i am debating on one of the push type snow blowers, putting a grader blade on my cub cadet tractor mower, or using the mahindra. i don't do much winter farming, so i've never had the 3510 on snow. does it do well? my experience with the 4X4 has been awesome... i get in and out of places my other tractors could only dream about.

so what's you guys take on this idea?

My 4110 with the industrial R4 tires doesn't do very well in snow or mud. I've pushed a limited amount of snow on my .2 mi. driveway but it wasn't fun. Maybe with a snowblower mounted it would do much better, I've never tried one so can't say. Also ag tires might do much better but then again I've never tried them so can't really offer an opinion. When the tires do get traction - you're right, the 4x4 is very good on these tractors.

thank you for your input, i guess i'll have to wait and see. a little snow blower might be best. the part of the lane that has the hill is not very long and wouldn't be hard to clean. i wouldn't want to shovel it though. going up it won't be a problem with the 4X4 vehicles we use, i worry about going down it more.

To scrape snow off of a frozen drive with a hill you may need chains, they make a night and day difference. Tractors with no chains in winter with hills can get exciting. The chains may mar your drive. A rear blade on the back of the Mahindra would work well driving forward, again chain are a good idea, at least in Vermont. I did my 1/4 mile drive for 1 winter with no chains, I was lucky and don't wish to repeat the experience.

Compact is right about the chains on the rear wheels. If you don't have chains on when you encounter any kind of hill you could lose traction, 4X4 won't help much. I put chains on both my tractors as winter approaches, it is no fun putting chains on after your tractor has slid into a snow bank, and won't get traction. Snow pushers work well if you have a quick disconnect bucket, and they are relatively cheap.I welded up one a couple of years ago out of an old truck snow plow, it works great, and I don't suffer from neck strain from pushing snow backwards. Of course if your driveway is paved a front mount snow blower is the way to go. Your driveway, being paved will melt off quickly after being plowed.

thank you... i appreciate you guys coming with this information and advice. i'm not a full time farmer and hardly even ever start mine in winter, so i don't know how it does on snow. the neighbor farmers i've talked have said the same, but their tractors are all 2X4's. i was hoping the 4X4 would make a difference, but guess not. i contacted my cub cadet dealer about snow blowers... i won't need a great big one since down here, we don't get really deep snows often. this part of the lane is about 1/10th of a mile, so it won't take to much effort and time a couple or 3 times a year.
