$10K is hugely high. Its the what ifs that kill it even as a spare parts machine. If I had one Id buy it for $5K fer sher tho.

Repairing it would cost more than it is worth, just in parts. The engine is worth say $3k, tires in total, a grand anyway......... the rest of the salvagable stuff might part out, (with a fair amount of labor) for another couple grand, max, it seems to me. There is an enormous amount of damage there.

Net retail value, sans labor, seems not a penny over $5k and then you only break even. Even if you "had one", $5k is a lot to invest in parts you may never need in the next 30 years, or more.

Those kinds of events are what insurance is for. Wonder if he had any.

And the guy who chained it down needs remedial lessons.............

Heh guys, the guy is NOT dreaming! You misread the ad. I think he is paying anyone 9 grand to take it to the dump!

I think he might be fibbing that it just fell off the truck. - Even at 60 mph I don;t think it would do that type of damage (Cut in half??)

Don't worry about slack in the chains, don't tie the load binder. Then drive really fast, 60 or 70 mph, dump the tractor off on it's side, loader catches, tractor goes end over end... + speed - brains can do a lot of damage.

A few months ago while coming home in the TT at dusk, I crested a rise on I95 and saw a silhouette in the ditch. As I got closer I saw JD yellow wheels and was trying to figure out why it looked all wrong.

Upon getting closer, I saw it was an upside-down JD in the 45hp range, with excavator. You could see the tire tracks where it landed on the pavement, rolled to the grass and slowly drifted sideways before it rolled.

No one was around. I should have stopped and picked up this roadside trash.:D

That's a weak part in tractors, the front and back are held together by the transmission castings. I'll believe it.

I would also say that the value is closer to the scrap weight of the metal. Maybe the engine and rear diff are okay..maybe.

Reminds me of the local towing outfit that lost a fire department ladder truck in a similar fashion. Total loss of a half million dollar truck. This is the same outfit that I saw moving a small motorhome on a rollback a few blocks without having it tied down

Reminds me, I think it was last summer, a brand new Caterpillar D11 dozer coming out of the factory, did not clear an overpass on the Interstate. This was within sight of the Cat factory. :(

Anybody with a torch, welder and a big hammer could straighten that loader out.... No?

If you had a high hours machine that needed some of the parts that weren't seriously messed up, and the time, it might be something to consider, not at new parts price. Might watch for cracks in the (other) castings, steel parts that are bent but not enough to notice with a quick look.
