Anyone done theirs yet? At the 800 hour mark and that is what the books says. Not looked to much at it but the injection lines go into the cover I think. How hard is it?

Hi Tom, well if you are familiar to adjusting valves on other engines isnt not harder then that. If you remove fuel lines you need to get air out before you start the engine. By saying this I havnt read the service manuel yet for my 7040. You will have a bleedpump on diesel engines. It could be so that you need to bleed the fuel lines, but it could be so that you dont have to. But its pretty straight forward job bleeding the system for air.

Concerning valve adjustment, you need to find out if the adjustment is carried out with varm or cold engine. It will be diffrent measure between cold or hot engine valve measurement. You turn the engine (usally clockwise) and when each valve are fully closed (and the knob of the camshaft are 180 degrees against the valve) you use a feeler gauge of the right thickness (found in the manual) you should feel the friction (same friction throu all the valves) between the feeler gauge and cam/valve. Adjust by loosing the adjust screw.
Continue throu all valves. Check all valves ones again. Change rockcover seal if requierd.
Good luck. And take the job slowly and without stress.

i just had mine done on my b7800. mine did need it at 890 hours. valves off just a bit, not too bad, but good to have reset. i am not very skilled at that type of maintenance, so i had my dealer do it. they did a great job too!

$278.71 to check all 4 glow plugs and adjust all valves and the gasket kit too. tractor came back cleaner then when i took it and i actually keep my equipment in top shape all the time, so that was a shocker to me to see it that clean. of course my engine is smaller then yours and my dealer gives me better then the normal deals due to all the equipment and things i have bought from them over the years. i am in pa.
