Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a M6040 or MX5100 and need some width info. The product brochures for both machines state the minimum width, but I need to know the max width to determine if either will fit on my trailer.

Does anyone have this info? I would be most grateful for whatever you can give.

It will depend on how wide the rear tires are set. They can be varied. Download the owner's manual and it will have the width for the various settings.

On my M7040 OM states maximum wheel tread 59.8" frt & 67.7" rear

I think the numbers in the manuals are based on R1's. If you are getting R4's you'll have to add a few inches. My MX5100 with R4's is set at about 72" wide at the rear treads, maybe a bit more with side walls. It would NOT be a good fit on a 6 ft wide trailer deck, but could fit on 6.5 ft.

Thanks for the replies.

I understand that the tire spacing can be varied. That is why I'm asking. Kubota SELLS manuals on their website. Where can I get a free download?

It would be foolish to let current trailer size dictate which tractor you buy.

My MX5100 has my A1s set at the widest possible setting and it's 74ish inches.

Thanks for the advise and info.

I agree on letting the trailer dictate tractor size. For me, the situation is one of snow-balling. I can't have a trailer much bigger than the one I have or my family will mutiny. I live in suburbia, on a narrow street, with a neighbors pickup permanently parked opposite my driveway. I have to be able to share the driveway with my wife and daughter.

A bigger tractor could mean a bigger trailer and maybe tow vehicle. Bigger vehicles may mean a bigger property. All I want is a little more horsepower!

My full-line brochure is showing 69.7 for mx5100 and 73.2 for the m6040. I measured my m7040 set at narrow setting 74 would be closer, with some tire squat. I don't know what kind of trailer you have but the 6040 just tractor weight is around 1,100lbs heavier and im thinking the loader will also be alittle heavier on it. Weight numbers 3600lbs and 4700lbs give take....
