Unable to free himself, Hutt said he hollered for help but after 30 minutes realized "no one was coming," and he needed to take drastic action before shock set in.

I know the guy isnt the brightest bulb in the pack when all he waits is 30 min.

in FD training class on AG equipment rescue. had a guy come in and talk about his first hand experience in getting sucked into a round bailer and looseing both his legs. Man layed there half sucked into the bailer (with it still running) for something like 6 hrs before help found him.

The guy with his arm stuck in the rock was there for FOUR DAYS! before he acted.

30 min! sheesh....

I also noticed he said "it felt like being caught in a bear trap." wonder when he did that?

Was wondering about the 30 minutes thing myself. If pain was so severe you would think he would pass out and then be found unconcious anyhow? Maybe he did not dig out as he thought the landing gear would have just followed the digging, but in reality they are prolly wide enough to excave an area and the rest of the pad would still be on solid ground. I dunno, he prolly will take wife with him and leaver her in the cab nextime!
