Hello Guys.a newbie here
I recently purchased a used 1993 John deere 770. 700 hours 4wd ,60" belly mower.
After the second week there was gear oil leakage by the left front tire. I just a assume the seal is leaking, years of oily dirt around the hub area. Right side nice and clean. It only leaked one day so I presume out of fluid. Today I cleaned everything and filled with one full qt. of 90w and will keep a eye on it.
My question is, is this a repair a garage monkey like myself can handle. Any special tools required? My local dealer told me it would be easier if I unbolted the entire hub at the axle ( my finger pointing) and bring it in and they will rebuild at 2 hrs $70 per hour plus parts. Or should I just bring the tractor in let them do it ,write em a check
Thanks
gregz
If i unbolt here will the whole hub slide off?
Heres my new toy
