We put in a new oil gauge on the Kubota L260 today. It originally had a oil sensor light and not a pressure gauge.

That was easy.

The hard part was the thermostat sensor.

When I remover the original one it came out bent. That makes me think it was not original and bent when installed. I don't know.

When I installed the new universal sensor, I was able to seat the bolt but the sensor still wobbled around and was loose.

So my questions are, did I need a washer or a o ring to get the right fit, did the previous owner damage the head so that the new sensor will not fit?

I think I'm headed to Kubota in the morning.

All advice is welcome.

If it wobbles, it won't hold liquid.

How does this 'universal' look compared to the one you took out in the sealing area ?

You're right about not holding coolant. Tested it by filling the radiator and as soon as it hit the sensor level it seaped out.

The bolt looked the same but the sensor was a little shorter.

G'day you will need an adaptor to seat the bulb into they usually come in the kit with the new gauge. You are just lucky that the nut had the same thread as your block:p

I redid the sender filling the gap with two O rings. We ran the thing for an hourand there was a small leak. I didn't tighten it as much as I could so possible it will settle down with another quarter turn.
