I'm got a friend looking to go 50-50 on a tractor with me. His buddy has a b9200. Both of us don't know too much about tractors, but we have a lot of knowledge in car/motocycle mechanics etc.

So its a b9200, 4wd with a loader. It "has a blown head gasket" says the owner, and it has sat since last summer. This doesnt seem like a common problem, I did a lot of searching.

That is literally all I know about the tractor. It is about 4 hours away from me, I am away at school now and its in my home town. Any advice about buying this thing?

Thanks in advance

With a loader, it is surely worth $800 in parts.

I had a B8200, basically a B9200 with a slightly smaller motor. It was a GREAT tractor; I just moved to something bigger.

To give you a relative idea, the aftermarket loader for mine was $3000. A good running B9200 should be around $8-10k, at least around here.

I would look at a couple things. How does he know it has a blown head gasket? Is the head off so you can inspect it? If the head is on, does it at least turn over? Does it run at all?

What is the condition of the rest of the tractor? Decent or beat up? If it is beat up, I would assume the motor and tranny might be too.

If the rest looks ok, then maybe it would be ok. A head gasket is cheap and easy, although I may be leary of water sitting in the cylinders if it is bad.

The motors from the B8200 and B9200 were used for a lot of industrial applications and also, in of all things, smaller sail boats. So parts, and/or a complete motor should not be hard to come by.

I have a B9200. I'd love to have that for parts. Be careful, these old Kubota's
can turn into a real money pit. Some of the parts are not available. That's why I'd love to buy it if you / your buddy don't. Probably too far away anyway.

I like my B9200. Their kinda rare. I don't think Kubota made that many of this particular model. Besides, being 22 plus years old.:)

If you do buy it, let us know, and post some images. We like images.
