Comparison kubota 161 or Takuechi 145

Help me! Which is better? Takuechi 145 or Kubota 161??

I think you have picked the two leaders there - our local hire shop does Kubota - but says the only reason they do not do Takeuchi is that the local dealer is also a rival in hire industry.

Just to confuse - do not forget Kubota's zero-tailswing U50.

I guess in your shoes I would look at quality of dealership as an important consideration.

I might also look at upgrade plans - I am not sure the Takeuchi may be due for a new model soon as the 135 seems to be upgraded to a 235 although the 125 and 145 are still current. Just a thought.

Edit: Just seen that there is now the TB250 - http://www.takeuchi-mfg.co.uk/NewTB250.htm - but that may mean the TB145 will be cheaper!!!!

I've not seen a single TakEuchi dealership but many kubota

I have no experience with either macHines but if i were to purchase an excavator I'd go with the one that I can most readily Available parts and support

Yes I know the Kubota is a zero turn, but why wouldnt every one buy a zero turn they cost the same?
Are there any disadvantages with the zero swing?

Sometimes zero tail swing is achieved, in part, by widening the tracks making a ZTS digger less manoeverable.

Also, on principals of leverage - there are two things to achieve a counter-balance for the boom - one is to put a weight further from the centre (fulcrum) such as on a non-ZTS digger - the other is to put heavier weight nearer the centre such as on a ZTS.

So a ZTS digger may be wider and heavier than a non-ZTS of same capability.

Thank you for the info. So if I will be digging in tight areas the weight is a trade of for the zero turn. They will dig about the same?

There is a newer version of the KX161 that just came out, its a K050. There is also a zero tail swing model thats the U55. We just got our first ones two weeks ago.
