Don't flip the wheels, there not designed to run that way it will put extra strain on the hubs that were not designed for it and the bearings may not take the load well.

Also RTV silicone is suppose to be tightened finger tight till it just oozes, left for an hour, then torqued down. I use to just torque right away till about a year or so ago and I started actually following directions. Seeks to seal better but I usually didn't have a problem the other way, usually.

Thanks for all the photos too Diceman. This will definitely make it easier for me when I go to do mine

And also it says and is best advisable to let it sit for 24hrs till you put oil or fluid into whatever your sealing up.

And many people don't do it that way, meaning the hand tighten and wait an hour. Many shops I bet don't wait, they don't have the time usually. 15 to 30 mins is better than nothing but it's beat to wait. The one hour allows it to get more like what dry silicone is. Which is then more like a gasket at that point, then as you torque it that silicone can then compress and not just ooze out. I know yall figured that out after I pointed it out though. But as we all see it also works by just torqing first thing as you mate the surfaces togeather. Any gaps or cuts or voids are filled by the liquid silicone. Having clean and dry surfaces cleaned with something g like brake clean or alcohol is probably the most important step.

Glad you like it Jtullis13. I hope it will help others in the future. Full disclosure on the RTV. I tightened it on the bench fairly tight but couldn't get a lot of torque on it while it was rolling around. And it probably took a little less than an hour to get it mounted back on the tractor and then I cranked it down good. Either way, still no leaks and I hope it stays that way. Good to know for future projects though.

Yes I did Diceman. I am sure that plenty others will too. When I go to do mine I'm going to install the repair sleeve as well. The same one that Winston had pointed out in this thread. Repair Sleeve: Yanmar Tractor Parts I hope my install goes as smooth as yours did.
