Dealer took valve cover off and found the push rods bent, and said that Perkins wants him to bring the tractor to Ft. Smith, AR to have the engine replaced or repaired. Dealer said may take month to six weeks to get tractor back. So I traded for the T554 yesterday. Waiting for the delivery today. Dealer gave good deal on the trade, and said he only wanted me to be happy... Best I understand Dealer thinks that it jumped time, and broke a gear on or around the the cam shaft, and that caused the damage. He said Perkins dealer said that they had another engine that did that, so really won't know for sure until they take engine apart... Hoping for the best on the new teir 4 yanmar engine..

He up sold you after selling you a tractor that had catastrophic failure within a couple hours? I'm not at all familiar with TYM or their model pricing, but that seems a bit fortuitous for the dealer and TYM. Was there a large difference in price?
The price was $3,000.00 more, but the new one has 5 more hp, and industrial tires, is newer year model and has the tier 4 engine. Dealer did not try to sell me, I asked him what it would cost to get the newer model. Tym was attempting to find another T503, but since that model is no longer made, not many dealers close by had one left in stock.... TYM is nice looking tractor, guess I just happened to get one that had a problem with the Perkins engine. I have had a Massey Fergerson 135 with a Perkins engine for about 29 years, and never had an engine problem...
