KIOTI NX5510 Cab HST with Backhoe
Just bought a used NX with a backhoe, its a beast. Didn't get a chance to try out all the gears before hauling it home. This evening had a few minutes and tried low, medium and high on the HST with the backhoe attached, low and Medium were fine but high didn't have any power even when I had the RPMs up. It would get going and drop down to 1000 RPMs. I am hoping it has to do with the backhoe being attached can anyone confirm that high gear won't function properly with the backhoe attached? I didn't see anything in the manuals I have.

thanks for any help or input

Mine runs fine on high with the backhoe attached. Only goes 15 mph and slow to get moving but is certainly intended to carry an implement in high range.

thanks for your response
That's what I was thinking, is there anything that needs to be done I have the rear hydraulics off, any other suggestions it has lots of buttons but none appear to do anything. Tried linked pedal that didn't work well, set RPms high and gave it throttle and it dropped to low and died a couple of times, I was testing on flat ground

No special actions are required. If it goes in low and medium it should go in high. May check your fluid level.

How goes the power seem when not in high range? Is the parking brake off?

Low and medium were fine, yes parking brake was off. I disconnected the backhoe last night but haven't had a chance to test drive it again.

I’m pretty sure you’re barking up the wrong tree.

Are you gradually applying HST pedal or just ramming it to the stop all at once. The higher the gear, the more you need to finesse the HST pedal to get the machine to moving. Stomping the HST pedal is the equivalent of popping the clutch in high gear on an automobile, it is just going to stall the engine if doing that.
I don't have any experience with Kioti but my B26 Kubota moves well in high range, even going up a hill, BUT, I have to back off the HST pedal as it starts to stall the engine, just keep enough pedal pressure to keep max torque on the engine without stalling it and it continues to go.
You said "set the RPM high and gave it throttle", I assume that what you meant by giving it throttle, was to press the HST pedal. Throttle controls the engine RPM only, HST controls the transmission.

TRY THIS: Advance the throttle to the full speed, then slowly press the HST foot pedal. You have to slowly engage the HST pedal, similar to what you would do with a manual clutch on a car or tractor (what some folks call slipping the clutch) to allow the engine to slowly engage the transmission when in a higher gear ratio.

Gary,
Yes I have had one for a couple of years so I have tried many things. Going to test drive it and see if it is all good without the back hoe then if it is hook up the back hoe and test again, the dealer said there shouldn't be any issues so just have to identify step by step how to recreate it. Still hoping it will be normal when driving without backhoe then work backwards until I pinpoint where I start loosing power, this all assuming that it drives normal with no backhoe

No BH, but if I start from a dead stop in high, I have to "let it shift gears" is best way to explain it. Linked pedal or not, low HST pedal input, let it gain some speed and build RPM, a little more pedal, a little more, then up to speed. This doesn't take a mile or anything, but just "flooring" the HST pedal in H doesn't get me anywhere. Think of your HST pedal as a powershift lever - if you've ever driven one of those it makes sense.
