Heated steering wheels?

I used to laugh at that, too. Then after chainsawing or turning steel wrenches in the colder months, the heated wheel actually returns some feeling back into your fingers instantly, even before the cab warms up.

But I hear driving with gloves on like our parents did is really sweet.
I'd rather wear my gloves which are usually on anyway in the winter. Then problems working my wife's cars touch screen infotainment center usually arises though. Before long I'm listening to the chipmunks sing Xmas songs on kids bop until I reach my destination.

Wear gloves while driving? LOL
Who the hell wants to do that? You lose all the control you’d have with bare hands. Try plowing snow with gloves on? No workee so good.

Heated wheel MUCH better.

Time to stop living like your parents did.

Hey lets drive with work gloves on! Hey lets sit on 120 degree vinyl seats. Let’s lean across the seats and crank down that passenger window. Excuse me while I get out and check my hitch to trailer alignment 7 times, or crash my bumper into the trailer. Or, let’s waste 10 minutes checking air pressure on tires while it’s raining? Let’s shift gears on the manual transmission so we lose traction on ice and slide sideways into a tree. I don’t need no stinkin built in guidance! I can just prop my cell phone up on the dash and be distracted by it while I drive-that’s real safe! Let’s get a huge V-8 and get 8MPG!

Anyone in this conversation other than me under 70 years old? lol

That’s pretty funny, and I guess we all have our own nostalgic attachments. Me? I’m happy burning more gas to keep my big V8, but I’m also spoiled by the other creature comforts.

This summer a toddler was killed in my area ran over by a car in a parking lot. I always made sure young kids hold my hand in parking lots especially, I can't imagine the would've,should've, could haves, in a terrible incident like that. Yes the contraption that makes your vehicle auto stop when backing to avoid hitting things you can't see or anticipate would have problaby saved a life in that scenario. However if you relying on safety devices instead of learning how to drive vehicles safely is it a good thing? Didn't Ford or someone have an auto trailer backing option? The heck with trying to learn new things I guess. Correction this terrible accident happened in 2023.

Newsflash: You can do both. Just because you have these wonderful safety items on your car/truck doesn’t mean you can’t also be an excellent driver, right?

I am accident free back to my mid 20’s and have like 1 minor violation in 30 years. My wife and I drive a BMW X-5 with lane departure warning, automatic braking, back up cameras with audible warning, and about 10 other safety features, but that doesn’t make me a bad driver, right?

Its more not you but other drivers especially newer ones becoming dependent on these features rather than have foresight thinking ahead when driving in traffic what might happen if that driver blows a stop sign changes lanes without seeing you etc do any drivers have a quick plan to take possible evasive actions or will they be reliant on their car or trucks safety features to do it for them. Btw I draw a line with vinyl seats definitely would never want them. Ever see a company work truck, even dump trucks with trashed vinyl seats Id usually put a old rubber mud flap where I sit. 😂

Snow drift but These dumper dog boxes are definitely catching my eye. Especially for my 3/4 ton Sierra with a 8' bed and air helper springs hauling a yard or two of gravel and still being able to tow whatever I want unfortunately orders already been placed for a new truck if I could go back and think it through better I'd probably keep my Sierra getting a dumper dog for it and a plow. And get a half ton gas crew cab instead. I know I'll probably never find a 1 ton dump truck for 600 or700 bucks again like I did years ago and have the friends around to hook me up with the parts I needed to get it somewhat safe and reliable. I also know the complete history of my 3/4 ton and how it was used, sometimes hard but never beat. Another thing rubberized vinyl floors are perfect for me anyway. They have held up very well and so easy to keep clean.

One of my earliest memories is grandma taking her driving gloves from her purse… she always had gloves leaving home.

My grandfather always wore a hat… guess by the 1960’s only those of retirement age carried on the tradition?

Problaby would never expect to see you snowmobiling when it's -20 out. Lol
I did that, back when I was young & dumb, living in Minnesota. We just didn't know any better. Then I moved south to Oklahoma for school and never looked back!
