John Deere 2010 three point hitch

My John Deere 2010 has 3 point problems. It will quit working, but will work again after I take the hydraulic filter/screen out and clean it. This may last a day or two and then must be repeated. The fluid in the filter is very metallic when I clean it. I would appreciate any advice before I take the thing apart.

What method are you using to clean the filter? The filter is very difficult to clean. One needs to use solvents plus compressed air. When cleaning is complete sit filter in a dry,clean bucket on closed end and pour oil into it. Oil should readily come out of filter. If oil is metallic looking I'd suggest installing new oil.

If I want to fix the brakes I will have to take it apart anyway, correct?

Brakes on a 2010 are dry type that has nothing to do with hyd's.
