John Deere 1070 remote hydraulics

I'm new at the forum thing. I've been working on tractors and mowers all my life but can't find what I'm lookin for and haven't ever added remote hydraulics. I work for a golf course and we use a gang mower to mow the rough. They what to change what tractors we pull it with to a JD 1070. But it doesn't have any remote hydraulics to lift and lower the reels. It's got it's own valve controls for each reel on the mower. We just need some thing to move the fluid if that makes any since. But back to the topic. what can we do to achive this.

Be patient my friend, sometimes it takes more than 8 hrs to get a response-especially when you first one is late on Friday night!


To access the auxiliary hydraulics on the 1070, you will need basically a "power beyond" kit like was sold when a backhoe was fitted to the machine. Unfortunately they used banjo fittings for these connections so find a off-the-shelf solution is going to be tough.

With this "kit" though, you can add a valve of you choice to get some remotes...

According to the John Deere site (under Parts Look Up) John Deere - Parts Catalog The kit is still available. Call your local JD dealer and ask about part number BM18010

This is fairly easy for a tractor repair shop to install. They don't expect you to do it do they?

Yeah they are going to pay me extra to do it. I've torn down tractors from top to bottom and built 2 tractors for spare parts. So I know I can do it. I just couldn't find the kit to do it with. But I've got it now. Has anyone ever done it on this tractor before.

Yes, the PB kit is a supply of constant hydraulic oil flow for implement with their own valves like backhoes and log splitters, so you will need a valve to actually control the cylinder(s) on the mower.

Now the mower does have it's own valve. It's got one handle per reel. When we hooked it up to our 3520 for a day I had to hold the valve on the tractor back while I was using the controls on the mower. I'll try to get a picture sometime.

Well then, since the mower has it's own valve's then all your need is the PB kit from JD.

Like I said before:

and mowers with valves!

Just be sure to NEVER interrupt that flow (like unhook the mower or the bypass loop) when the tractor is running...you can damage your pump!

So if we do unhook the mower from the tractor we need to bypass the hoses where the fluid is still able to have a constant flow.
